Occupying an area of just 2.5 sq. miles, all of Manasquan’s amenities are easily within reach of residents and visitors without the necessity of a car. Manasquan’s proximity to a number of popular Jersey Shore beaches causes its population to swell dramatically during the summer months. With numerous summer rental accommodations, nearby hotels, motels, and bed & breakfast inns, visitors are sure to find just the right place to stay while enjoying a Manasquan getaway. So, you’ve been to the beach, strolled along Main Street, taken a nap, and had a relaxing meal. And that’s just on the first day you’re here in Manasquan. What’s next? Well this is the Jersey Shore and we do have a lot to offer. How about a relaxing bicycle ride through the country? The Bike Path starts in Manasquan (just off East Main St.) and goes all the way to Allaire State Park. Historic Allaire Village celebrates the life and times of the Howell Iron Works in the 1830s. Or how about visiting the Squan Village Historical Society Museum at 105 South Street (732-223-6770).
Then there’s always a day at the races. You can watch the horses run at Monmouth Park (732-222-5100) in Oceanport, or the trotters run at Freehold Raceway (732 462-3800) in Freehold.
Fore-get about everything else, what about a relaxing game of golf ? Bel Aire Golf Course (732-449-6024) is open to the public daily. (Located at Rt.34 N and Allaire Road). Don’t want a full 18 holes? Then the Executive Course at Quail Ridge (732-681-1800) is just your game. Located on Rt. 34 N at West Hurley Pond Rd., they also have a Driving Range and Miniature Golf for the whole family.
Not amused? Well then take a spin on the rides at the Boardwalk in Point Pleasant Beach. Or drive west on 195 and discover the thrills at Great Adventure Amusement Park. There’s always bowling at The Lanes at Sea Girt. Fun for the whole family or just the kids. It’s located on Rt. 35 N at Ocean Road in Wall. Lakewood is hometown to the BlueClaws, the Jersey Shore’s own minor league baseball team. For game info call: 732-901-7000.
Don’t want to get in the car and go? Well then, take the dog for a walk at the Dog Beach at Fisherman’s Cove, or take in a free, outdoor movie in the parking lot of Algonquin Arts Theatre.
